The Jacobæus Prize for Biomedicine recognises an outstanding active scientist in Denmark who has made transformative contributions to the fields of basic bioscience or biomedicine.
The Foundation welcomes nominations by individual researchers and by research institutions including academic and industrial institutions, and research funding agencies.
To be evaluated by the Bioscience and Basic Biomedicine Committee, nominations must be submitted electronically via the nomination form. The nomination and review processes are confidential.
The nomination call for 2026 is open until 18 August.
- Nominees must have made transformative contributions to basic bioscience or biomedicine. This includes both advancing our understanding of disease mechanisms or fundamental research on basic biological principles.
- Nominees must have a current position and an active research programme at a non-profit research institution in Denmark.
- Nominees must serve as inspirational leaders and role models for young scientists.
- Nominees may have any nationalities.
- Nominators (individual or institution) are limited to one nomination.
- Self-nominations are not accepted.
- Nominators cannot be family members.
- The Prize may not be awarded to members of the Novo Nordisk Foundation Board or members of one of the Novo Nordisk Foundation standing committees.
